Melissa Burdi became dean and vice president of the Purdue University Global School of Nursing in 2020. She joined the University in 2018 as associate dean of prelicensure programs and brings to her role more than two decades of experience in the nursing industry, specializing in cardiovascular nursing practice, professional development, quality and safety, nursing administration, and academic operations. Burdi has served as the national director of academic operations at Chamberlain University, where she was responsible for providing leadership to university-wide operational quality initiatives as well as day-to-day oversight of all online post-licensure and graduate program operations. She was an administrator at a large metropolitan hospital, where she led key initiatives in areas that included patient safety, accreditation, advocacy for professional nursing certification, and attainment of Magnet designation.

Dr. Elliott is the Assistant Dean of Immersive Learning & Innovation for the School of Nursing at Purdue University Global. She holds a DNP in educational leadership where her project focused on interprofessional simulation student outcomes. Dr. Elliott is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and a Certified Emergency Nurse. She has academic leadership experience in immersive learning program design, implementation, and evaluation. She has also taught classes in the lab, clinical, online, and in the classroom. In her free time, Dr. Elliott enjoys spending time with her husband and five children.

Maria Jose Bassett, known as MJ, joined the Purdue Global team in November of 2021. She has been working in higher education for more than 18 years supporting the professional development of adult learners. She has experience in enrollment management and student support services; as well as partnership engagement and growth. MJ Bassett brings a unique perspective in business development, and healthcare industry knowledge to the team. MJ has engaged with healthcare and educational partners nationwide helping them maximize the resources offered at Chamberlain University and now at PG. She has collaborated in several key projects at Adtalem Education that have resulted in building new strategies to enhance learner experiences and reduce re-work for educational organizations across the region.

MJ is passionate about providing tailored educational options to learners and doing it so with the most- up to- date and innovative solutions.

Jim Kiggens is the CEO of inciteVR, a company with offices in Portugal and California that produces award-winning immersive learning products for higher education and professional training.

Jim has 30 years of experience in producing and publishing immersive game-based learning for higher education, middle and secondary school, and professional training. In addition to founding three game studio companies and shipping 65 game-based learning and simulation titles, he also spent 22 years in parallel in instructional design, product development, and teaching digital animation and game development at several colleges and universities.

Jim has authored/co-authored seven books and has presented widely regarding the development of game-based immersive learning. His current research focus is intelligent immersive learning experience production for corporate training and higher education.

Jim has a Masters of Science Degree in Education with an option in Online Teaching and Learning from California State University, East Bay. His Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Education is from National University.
